Hi, I’m Jess. Over the past 10 years, I have worked closely with college-aged students. From living in the residence halls of a small Christian university to teaching college-level courses, I've gained significant experience communicating with a population on the brink of big decisions.

Throughout these experiences, I’ve spent time writing for blogs, teaching college-level writing and spiritual formation courses, editing academic documents, and speaking in churches and on chapel stages.

Communication is my sweet spot. Need a copywriter? Want someone to edit an academic paper or resume? Can I help you create spiritual formation content? If it’s for a college-aged audience, even better.

Let’s work together!

Career Development Program Manager

2021 – Current

On a college campus, questions about “what’s next?” are pretty common. I work closely with students as they prepare for life after graduation. We develop their resume, investigate helpful internships, and map out their next steps. Most students get overwhelmed by the big picture and the 5-year plan, but we want to help them figure out the next thing. It’s about personal AND professional development - who do you want to be often trumps what do you want to do?

Freelance Writer/Editor

2019 – current

Periodically throughout the past few years, I’ve worked with individuals and companies to enhance their communication efforts. This has included content writing on blogs, dissertation editing, and some resource/content creation. I love helping others tell their stories and “say what they mean to say.” Thanks, John Mayer.

Adjunct Professor

2019 - 2021

As an adjunct professor of both writing and religion, I found great significance in working with college students. I created thoughtful curriculum, graded countless papers, and facilitated meaningful discussions around various texts. Even in these entry-level courses, I felt so grateful for the students’ writing and reflections. It was a genuine privilege to work with these students in such formative seasons of their lives.

“The journey homewards. Coming home. That's what it's all about. The journey to the coming of the Kingdom. That's probably the chief difference between the Christian and the secular artist--the purpose of the work, be it story or music or painting, is to further the coming of the kingdom, to make us aware of our status as children of God, and to turn our feet toward home.”
